This sculpture is my first clay study of a young woman and only the second clay portrait I’ve ever made. I created her during a two-day workshop with a live model, so the whole piece was done under real studio pressure and observation. I named her Darla, after the character from The Little Rascals. The name had nothing to do with the model, but matched the playful mindset I was in while sculpting.
