This sculpture was made during a one-week workshop with a live model at the Grand Central Atelier in New York. It’s the third sculpture I’ve ever made. I titled the piece Ash, a shortened version of the model’s name, to create some distance between the sculpture and the person. I was especially drawn to working on the hair, using its texture and movement to add character to the piece.
