This tufted rug is the first rug I’ve ever made and a self-portrait based on a black-and-white photograph of me, composed in the style of the Yin–Yang symbol. The piece was inspired by Yin and Yang’s idea that duality and opposing forces, light and dark, exist together rather than canceling each other out.
Because my work moves fluidly between art and social work, and across different artistic mediums and approaches, this image became a visual anchor for my brand. It reflects a way of working that holds multiple identities at once.
